Who we are

Capacity Building Organization (CABUNGO) has in the past 24 years worked with over 300 local and international organizations within Malawi, Tanzania, Kenya and RSA. This also explains why CABUNGO is a pioneer of Organization Development (OD) Services in the public and civil society organizations in Malawi coming at the onset of democracy. As a result, the majority of Malawian OD Practitioners working within Malawi and parts of Africa trace their roots from CABUNGO.

To date, CABUNGO has worked with organizations from various sectors ranging from health, education, agriculture and forestry. These include international NGOs, local NGOs, government departments and agencies and also community-based organizations at different levels of growth and development. Malawi Economic Justice Network (MEJN) and Malawi Network of AIDS Service Organizations (MANASO) and Private sector mostly as partners. The section on key projects will provide a summary of examples of assignments and the associated partners/clients.

Our Aim

Bring at least twenty (20) CSOs (NGOs, Networks, CBOS, FBOs to a clear and well-focused direction which is shared among internal and external stakeholders.

Conduct full organization development processes with at least 5 organizations to enable them realize their maximum potential annually.

Facilitate at least fifty (50) specialized skills processes/training/coaching# that enable CSOs, government and private development players to drive meaningful change processes in the communities resulting in high levels of positive change in peoples’ lives.

At least participate in influencing three policies through research leading to change in practices within funding agencies and government.

Hold annual processes for CABUNGO internal capacity for self-learning and growth. This commitment is embedded in our values, our aspirational goals, the professionalism of our staff and our business practices.

Our Approach

Participatory# and #inclusive processes to leave a lasting change in the organization and skill to do similar processes by themselves in future and work ourself out of the job. Starts with you and explores together into the future that unfolds.

Creates critical mass for action by the affected groups to lobby and advocate for change in policy and practice related to trending as well as salient issues. We do this through our research and sharing of critical information o issues affecting the livelihoods of individuals and groups within Malawi and the Sub-Saharan Africa.
